What is neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, research-supported brain training based on the principles of neuroplasticity. It detects the electrical activity of your brain using EEG and gives you clear, immediate feedback about changes in that activity.
NeurOptimal® gives that feedback through sound: a small interruption in the music you're listening to each time your brain makes a rapid change. Like rumble strips on the highway, each signal gives your brain the chance to self-correct. Sit back and listen, all you have to do is bring your brain.

Nigel Barnim, Hamilton Neurofeedback
Nigel is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with an MSc in Psychotherapy from McMaster University. He combines training in neuroscience, psychotherapy and psychology with ten years of meditation experience and an obsession with the biology of mental health.
He has worked in mental health for 6 years as a neurofeedback trainer, psychotherapist, and support group facilitator. His primary practice is Hamilton Neurofeedback & Psychotherapy.

Common questions
What if I can't figure it out?
You won't be on your own. Your free 1-on-1 session walks you through everything, and you can reach us by phone, text or email any time. For technical issues, NeurOptimal®'s remote support team can connect to your system and fix it in a few clicks.
When will I notice a difference?
Most people begin noticing results in 5–10 sessions. About 10–20% notice changes in the first 1–2 sessions, and about 10–20% notice no change after 10 sessions, which is what the 10-session guarantee is for.
Is it safe? Are there side effects?
Neurofeedback is like exercise for your brain. Some people feel tired, out of it, or get a headache after their first sessions. This is rare (less than 10% of clients) and passes within 24 hours.
How many people can use it?
As many as you like. We include supplies for 100+ sessions.
How often should we do sessions?
Start with 3–4 sessions a week and work up. Most people average 4–5 a week, or 15–20 in a month.
Is it covered by insurance?
No. Rentals are not covered by insurance and are not tax deductible.
Can I buy a system later?
Yes. We can help you buy a new system at a discount from NeurOptimal®, find a used one, or extend your rental long-term at a lower rate.
